CCCAM is pleased to announce the Assistant Coach of the Year, Laurel MacKay-Aamodt from Jenison!

Laurel has been an assistant for Jenison on most occasions; they were regional qualifiers between 2014 and 2023 seasons.

She coached:

  • 2010-11: Jenison 7th grade
  • 2014-16: Jenison Varsity Assistant
  • 2017-19: Byron Center Varsity Assistant
  • 2019-20: Jenison 7th grade Assistant
  • 2021 – current: Jenison Varsity Assistant

In addition, Laurel has been the co-director of Jenison’s cub cheer program from 2014 through 2017 and 2020 to 2022. She also ran Byron Center’s rocket program in 2018. Laurel was nominated by Head Coach, Rachel DeVries, who has this to say about her dedication to cheerleading at Jenison, “Laurel is a true lifesaver.

As an assistant she does a tremendous amount of things for us. Laurel is constantly available and ready to be put to work. She is proactive and completely dependable.

Laurel is the keeper of our scores, trending and data. She ensures we have our tape and medical supplies. She will pick up camp clothes, will go to the school office, will show up to other level practices when they have a need. She truly is an assistant that leans in and fully works at all levels of the program.

Laurel has such a huge heart and really cares about each cheerleader. She has great parent relationships and makes everyone feel like they have her sole focus. We can’t speak enough kind words about Laurel. Every person needs a Laurel in their life.”

Congratulations to Laurel, our 2024 Assistant Coach of the Year!
